The death of Vincent J. MERCURE, 63, of Napan, occurred Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1994, at Region 7 hospital, Newcastle facility, after a lengthy illness. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, he was the son of Susanna [SAVOIE] MERCURE and the late Joseph MERCURE. He had attended St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Nelson-Miramichi and had been employed with Miramichi Pulp and Paper, Newcastle before retiring due to ill health. <br /> Besides his wife, the former Marlene HAWKES, he is survived by five daughters: Mrs. William BJURSTROM [Ann], of Chatham Head, Mrs. Gerald BENOIT [Elizabeth] and Mrs. Daniel BENOIT [Rose], both of Bellefond, Mrs. Theresa MILSON, of Newcastle, and Mrs. Aurele VIENNEAU [Wanda], of Napan; three sons: Roger, of Napan; Raymond, of Chatham, and Norman, of St. Margarets; three sisters: Mrs. Stella RHEAL, of Montreal, Mrs. Lorraine RHEAL and Miss Jeanette MERCURE, both of Moncton; four brothers: Raymond, of Dieppe, Roger, of Toronto, Claude, of Riverview, and Nicholas, of Bathurst; 25 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.<br /> He was predeceased by his father; and a daughter, Susan.<br /> The body rested at Adams Funeral Home, Chatham. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Nelson-Miramichi, Friday, Feb. 18, 1994, conducted by Father Dan Melanson. Organist was Mrs. Jacqueline Allain, for the appropriate liturgical sessions. Raymond MERCURE read the lesson.<br /> Honorary pallbearers were: Paul McMAHON, Wilfred BOHAN, Vince McKENZIE, Tim McCARTHY, Albert GREENWOOD and Richard LANDRY.<br /> Interment will be in St. Patricks Cemetery in the spring.<br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - February 23, 1994
