Mr. Andrew J. McINTYRE, of Baie Ste. Anne, NB, passed away March 24, 2001, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born in Eel River, NB, he was the son of the late Robert and Flora [MARTIN] McINTYRE. He was a carpenter, and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Andrew was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 3. Andrew left home at an early age to work on a farm and in the woods. He became a lobster fisherman before he joined the army where he served with the First Canadian Surveys Corps in World War II. He served two years on the battle field in Italy, France, Holland, and Germany. When Andrew returned home, he went back to lobster fishing with his brother Eldon. Later he became a carpenter and worked on the dredge for the Government. Andrew enjoyed retirement, camping, hunting, fishing, bowling, and dancing. He enjoyed living an active life and is an inspiration to us all.
He is survived by his wife, Aurore [MEUSE]; step-daughter, Gisele; step-son, Marcel MUISE; two daughters: Mrs. Jean-Paul ARSENEAULT [Marie Louise], of Scarborough, ON, Mrs. Felix MARTIN [Adrienne], of Baie Ste. Anne; three sons: Roger McINTYRE, of Baie Ste. Anne, Antoine McINTYRE [Beverly], of Halifax, NS, Gerald McINTYRE [Elizabeth], of Moncton; five brothers: Eldon McINTYRE, of Chatham, Robert McINTYRE, of Montreal, Albert McINTYRE, of Baie Ste. Anne, Joseph McINTYRE, of Ontario, Olef McINTYRE, of Montreal; and three sisters: Delila LLOYD, of Escuminac, Therese ROBIEN, of Montreal, and Cecile RICHARD, of Montreal; his grandchildren: David, Angela, Jason, Peggy-Louise, JoAnna, Tony, and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren: Devin and Kyle DAVIS.
He is predeceased by one grandson, Wayne; first wife, Florence DUPLESSIS; step-son, Noel; sisters: Catherine, Florida, Marie, and May; brothers: Stanley, Anthony, Arthur, Eldon, Greg, Wilfred and Jim.
The remains rested at the Baie Ste. Anne slumber room on Monday, March 26, from 7-9, Tuesday, March 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Baie Ste. Anne, on Wednesday, March 28, with Fr. R. LeBlanc officiating. Interment was in St. Anne Cemetery, Baie Ste. Anne.
Active pallbearers were: David ARSENAULT, Jason McINTYRE, Tony MARTIN, Bert, Gary, and Elphege McINTYRE. Honorary pallbearers were: Charles McINTYRE, Wally JIMMO, Adelbert MANUEL, Marcel MUISE, Denis GILBERT, and Adolph LIRETTE.
Cross bearer was Angela McINTYRE. Arrangements were under the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Miramichi.
