Levi Joseph ALLAIN, 88, of Chaplin Island Road, died Sunday, July 14, 1985 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born in St. Charles, he was a son of the late Joseph and Henrietta (CAISSIE) ALLAIN. He attended St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle. He was a veteran of the First World War and was a member of the Miramichi Branch No. 10 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a retired farmer and a retired employee of Domtar Chemical Co., Newcastle.
His first wife, the former Melvina ST. COEUR, died previously.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Domitille DAIGLE; six daughters: Mrs. Paul DUPRES (Mona), Mrs. Emile BRIDEAU (Marie), both of Montreal, Mrs. Yvonne KINGSTON, of Moncton, Mrs. James WAYE (Barbara), of Chaplin Island Road, Mrs. Shirley VINEAU, of Fredericton, and Mrs. Carl MANDERSON (Leila), of Nanimo, B.C.; four sons: Louis and Anthony, both of Chaplin Island Road, Eric, of Moncton, and Jack, of Woodstock; five sisters: Mrs. Adolphe COMEAU (Dauline), of Madison, Me., Mrs. Marcel BABINEAU (Alma), of St. Louis de Kent, Mrs. Narcisse JOHNSTON (Yvonnisse),of St. Ignace, Miss Lorraine ALLAIN, Miss Herculine ALLAIN, both of Richibucto; four brothers: Alyre, of Newcastle, Antoine and Joe, both of St. Louis de Kent, and Edgar, of Newecastle; 30 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The body rested at his late residence, Chaplin Island Road. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 am from St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle. Burial in the church cemetery. Members of Miramichi Branch No. 10 held a Legion service at the home Tuesday. Arrangements in care of Adams Funeral Home, Newcastle.

FUNERAL -
Funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, July 17 from St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle with Rev. Henry McGrath officiating. The organist, Mary Butler, was assisted by the church choir with special musical selections.
The honorary pallbearers were: Alcide and Albert ALLAIN, Leonard CHEVERIE, Bill NORTON, Fred BUTLER and Harrison COREY. Active pallbearers were: Richard KINGSTON, Bob BRIDEAU, Larry WARREN, Vinnie VIENNEAU, George ALLAIN and Larry VIENNEAU.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Adams Funeral Home, Newcastle.
