Mrs. Valeda MARTIN, 90, of Route 117, Baie Ste-Anne, NB, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at the Villa Maria in Saint-Louis. Valeda was born in Baie Ste-Anne, the daughter of the late Jean-Baptiste and Celine [SCHOFIELD] MARTIN.<br /> She is survived by her sons: Reginald [Joyce] MARTIN and Magloire [Ghislaine] MARTIN, of Baie Ste-Anne, NB, Moise [Joanne] MARTIN, of Dieppe, NB; daughters, Genevieve [Donald] CORMIER, of Notre Dame, NB, Annoncia [Claude] LaPOINTE, of Boucherville, Quèbec; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.<br /> She is predeceased by her husband, Alyre MARTIN; and granddaughter, Jennifer MARTIN; also sisters: Alma WOLFE, Evangeline JENNINGS, Bella SMITH and Aurelie MARTIN; and brothers: Reginald MARTIN, Hermand MARTIN and Conrad MARTIN.<br /> Valeda MARTIN rested at the Baie Ste-Anne Slumberoom in Baie Ste-Anne on Tuesday August 23, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 and on Wednesday August 24, 2011 from 2pm till time of the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at 4pm from St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Baie Ste-Anne with Fr. Mercier officiating. <br /> Active pallbearers were: Adrien MARTIN, Patrice LaPOINTE, Etienne MARTIN, Louis SCHOFIELD, Sebastian CORMIER and Richard CORMIER. Honorary pallbearers were: Dorina MARTIN, Simone McINTYRE, Mildred GIBBS BRAY, Celine GALLANT, Evangeline MARTIN, Rosa PELLERIN and Joanne SCHOFIELD. <br /> Interment will be in Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Mahers Funeral Home Miramichi serving the Miramichi and surrounding area for 100 years. Telephone 773-4321.<br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - August 29, 2011
