Prudent MARTIN died Thursday morning, October 13, 1983 at Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital at Moncton following a lengthy illness. Born in Baie Ste. Anne 63 years ago, he was a son of the late Alexander and Margaret [CHIASSON] MARTIN. He was a fisherman and had been employed with the Department of Fisheries for 11 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War.
He is survived by his wife, the former Exina GAUDET; one daughter, Mrs. Claude SAVOIE [Claudine], of Dieppe; one son, Julien, of Baie Ste. Anne; two brothers, Augustin and Armand, both of Baie Ste. Anne; six sisters: Mrs. Wilfred MARTIN [Lise], Mrs. Anna McINTYRE, Mrs. Lea LIRETTE, Mrs. Exilda McINTYRE and Mrs. Maurice MARTIN [Albertine], all of Baie Ste. Anne, and Mrs. Lloyd WATLING [Lodia], of Center Napan; two grandchildren.
The body rested at the Baie Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church where the funeral mass was concelebrated Saturday afternoon, October15 by Rev. A. Richard and Rev. F. LeBlanc. Members of the Baie Ste. Anne Air Cadet Squadron attended the funeral and formed a guard of honor. A Legion memorial service was held at the graveside under the direction of Charles Savoy. The Last Post was sounded.
Honorary pallbearers were: Allen MARTIN, Arthur THERIAULT, Anthime MANUEL, Kenneth McINTYRE, Lloyd WATLING and Emile LIRETTE. Active pallbearers were: Valeri MARTIN, Jean Marc MARTIN, Antonio McINTYRE, randy WATLING, Valmond MARTIN and Abel LIRETTE.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham.
