Mrs. Emma MARTIN, 81, wife of the late Stanley MARTIN, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Miramichi Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, March 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Albert LIRETTE and Bertha McINTYRE. She was a homemaker, and attended the Sainte Anne Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Golden Age Club and the Charismatic Movement.
She is survived by four daughters: Gertrude CHIASSON [Jim], Jeanne D ARC, Elva, Pasty MARTIN [Egbert], all of Baie Ste-Anne; three sons: Emile [Mary], Stanley [Helen], of Pubnico, NS, and Henri [Jocelyne], of Baie Ste-Anne; three sisters: Dorilla MANUEL, Exeline MARTIN [Augustin], Jeanine MAZEROLL [Ulysse], all of Baie Ste. Anne, and one adopted step-sister, Elda BACEDA, of Miramichi; and three brothers: Adalphe [Rita], of Baie Ste-Anne, Willie [Cecile], of Bouctouche, Albert [Georgina], of Moncton; she is also survived by 24 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
The remains rested at the Sainte Anne Catholic Church in Baie Ste-Anne, with visiting Saturday, Oct. 2, from 7-9 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; and Monday, Oct. 4, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral which was held at 4 p.m. with Fr. LeBlanc officiating. The ladies of the Charismatic Movement of Sainte Annes Catholic Church formed a guard of honor.
Active pallbearers were: Remi, Denis, Greg, and Michael MARTIN, Jacques CHIASSON, and Kevin GOULDING. Honorary pallbearers were: Augustin Jr, Marc MARTIN, Michel MAZEROLLE, Aube MANUEL, Jacques and Abel LIRETTE.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The funeral was under the direction of Mahers Funeral Service.
