Mr. Eloi MARTIN, 76, of Baie Ste-Anne, NB, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at LHopital Stella Maris De Kent. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, he was the son of the late Fred and Genevieve [MANUEL] MARTIN. He was a fisherman, and attended the Roman Catholic Church.<br /> He is survived by daughters: Alida CHAISSON [Zoel], Lucienne [Alyre], both of Baie Ste-Anne; Patricia DAIGLE [Gilles], of Pointe Sapin; Marina ARSENEAULT [Leonard], of Warwick Settlement; sons: Ade E. MARTIN [Margaret], of Escuminac; Ernest [Nora], of Canso, NS; Eloi Jr. [Christina], of Escuminac; Basil [Theresa], of Escuminac; Roger [Connie] of Oak Point; sisters: Bertha GOGUEN [Lucien], of Chatham Head; Catherine DRISCOLL [Lloyd], of Miramichi; Anna LeBELLE, of Miramichi; Alida HARRIS, of Fredericton Junction; Geraldine JARDINE [Winston], of Saint John; brothers: Emile [Lillian], of Harvey Station; Alyre [Velida], of Eel River Bridge; Edmond [Mavis], of Maine, USA; 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.<br /> He was predeceased by his wife, Aurella; son, Placid; daughter, Dorilla; sisters, Eloina and Dorilla.<br /> The remains rested at the Baie Ste-Anne Slumberoom, on Friday, Dec. 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, Baie Ste-Anne, NB, on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., with Fr. V. LeBlanc officiating. The Golden Age Club formed an honor guard.<br /> Active pallbearers were: Perry MILLS, Shawn CHIASSON, Edouard DAIGLE, Joseph DAIGLE, and Jeremy Marc MARTIN. Honorary pallbearers were: Alyre, Emile, Martin, Eloi DURELLE, Alexander MILLS, Rosaire DAIGLE, and Denis MAZEROLLE.<br /> Interment was in Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Miramichi.<br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - December 18, 2001
