HOSFORD, JONATHAN: born about 1814 in Brandon Parish, County Cork, Ireland and died 11 February 1900 in Trout Brook, NB. He married Mary Copp, widow of Samuel Peabody, on 29 March 1848 in Northumberland County, NB. Daughter of Henry Copp and Elizabeth Page, she was born 4 November 1816 in Devonshire, England and died 11 February 1900 in Trout Brook, NB.
Jonathan was granted land at Williamstown, NB in 1839 but moved to Trout Brook after his marriage. There he was a successful farmer raising five stepchildren as well as six of his and Mary’s. Mary is buried in Wesley United (Methodist) Cemetery in Trout Brook with her 1st husband. No headstone has been found for Jonathan.

Susan Frances, born 25 January 1849, South Esk, died 10 August 1942, Newcastle. She married James Allison on 12 April 1883, No Co. She was born 15 November 1836 in Allison Settlement/Wayerton area and died 27 November 1925, Newcastle. They had five children. James was a farmer in North Esk Parish. James and Susan are buried in St James & St John’s United Cemetery, Newcastle.
Elizabeth Page, born 3 October 1850, Trout Brook, died 1910 Wayerton, NB. She had one daughter, though never married. Buried in Wesley United (Methodist) Cemetery, Trout Brook.
William P, born 18 August 1850, Trout Brook died 15 September 1930. He married Letitia Mullin, daughter of John Foster Mullin and Naomi Keith on 12 July 1893 at St. Stephen’s Church, Red Bank, NB. She was born 28 March 1850, Butternut Ridge, Kings Co, NB and died 23 October 1925. They had at least seven children and lived in North Esk Parish. William and Letitia are buried in Wesley United (Methodist) Cemetery, Trout Brook, NB.
Hannah Mary, born 28 March 1854, Trout Brook and died 1910. She lived in Wayerton, unmarried.
Rebecca, born 31 December 1856, Trout Brook, died 1955. She married Herbert Edward Phair/Fair. He was born 31 January 1864, England and died 3 December 1946. The family farmed in the Sevogle area. They had six children. Rebecca had a son Stanley out of wedlock, (1882-1966). Rebecca and Herbert are buried Wesley United (Methodist) Cemetery, Trout Brook, NB.
Clarissa, born 14 November 1858, Trout Brook, NB, died 25 September 1942. She married William Graham, Jr. in 1884. He was born 27 June 1838, Williamstown, NB and died 29 February 1908, Williamstown area. They lived and farmed in the Williamstown area, where they raised their four children. Clarissa and William are buried in Derby United Cemetery, Millerton, NB.
