James, born about 1822 in Scotland and died 8 December 1894, Douglastown, NB. He married Mary Ingram, daughter of George I and Mary (Russell) Ingram, on 13 March 1845, No Co, NB. She was born about 1825 in NB and died 29 February 1912 most likely in the Newcastle area. James was a shipwright, listed in census as ship carpenter and master builder. He entered into partnership with William Sinclair and Thomas Phillips in the early 1850’s, to build ships at the former Cunard Yard in Chatham. James and Mary lived in Newcastle. They had at least ten children.
Elizabeth, born about 1823, Scotland. She emigrated from Scotland in 1843. In 1851 she was living in the household of her married sister Isabella Yorston.
Jane I, born about 1826, Scotland and died before 1859. She married John Wilson on 27 September 1852, No Co, NB. He was born about 1828 in Escuminac, NB, and died 20 May 1902, Chatham, NB. John was a sailmaker. In 1861 John, with his 2nd wife, Jane (McLennan) Chisholm, was living in Chatham with the three children born to him and Jane I. Henderson.
Isabella, born about 1828, Scotland and died after 1881. She married William Yorston on 31 December 1846, No Co, NB. He was born about 1818 in the Orkney Islands, Scotland and died after 1881. William was a ships carpenter. The family lived in Douglastown, NB. Isabella and William had at least five children. Their son, Frederick Pottinger Yorston, was the principal of Harkins Academy from 1892 to 1901, supervisor of Chatham Elementary Schools and president of the County Teachers’ Assn. in the late 1800’s.
William Donald, born about 1836 in New Brunswick. He married Frances Johnston Scott, daughter of William and Mary (Creighton) Scott, on 22 December 1859, No Co, NB. She was born 6 November 1837, Newcastle, NB. William was a carpenter. The family lived in Nordin, NB. They had at least eight children.
Date of Arrival: believed in the early 1830’s from Scotland.
