GILLIS, WILLIAM: born 30 April 1786, in Barra, Invernessshire, Scotland, the son of John Gillis and Nancy McNeill of St. John’s. He died before 1851 in Maria, Bonaventure Co, Quebec. He married Mary Ann Walsh on 4 September 1809 according to a Catholic Church record. The daughter of James Welch and Ann Martin, she was born about 1796 in Red Bank and died 1856 Bonventure Co., Quebec. William obtained crown grants on the Little South West and Little Sevogle during the first decade of 1800. In 1813 and 1814 he was a Parish Overseer of Roads and Fisheries. The family lived on Lot 14 at Red Bank until around 1828. In 1835 they were living at Little Russea in Gloucester County.

Ann, born 1809, Red Bank and died July 1841, North Esk Parish. She married Donald Angus Campbell on 7 January 1824 in Bartibog Catholic Church. The son of Angus Campbell and Elizabeth McCollach, he was born about 1793 in Scotland and died after 1875, most likely in the Lyttleton, NB area. Donald emigrated from Scotland in 1820. Donald was still living on his Lot 7 at Lyttleton, which was known as Campbell Hill, in 1871. They had nine children.
John, born 22 February 1814, Red Bank, NB. He was baptised 29 April 1814 according to the Bartibog Catholic Church records.
James, born 14 November 1815, Red Bank, NB. He was baptised 14 January 1816 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Nelson, NB.
Daniel, born 28 September 1817, Grand River, Lot 14, Prince Co, PEI and died 11 September 1902, Liberty, Mantowoc Co, WI, USA. He married Anne Elizabeth Harrison on 28 May 1840 in New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC, the daughter of James Harrison and Amelia Gibson. They had eight children. They resided at Liberty Township, Manitowoc Co., WI.
Elizabeth, born 16 November 1819, Red Bank, NB, died 23 April 1888, New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC. According to Bartibog Catholic Church records she was baptised 27 February 1820. She married John Hamilton on 11 January 1836 in New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC.
William, born 4 February 1821, Red Bank, NB and died after April 1881 most likely in Quebec. He married Catherine McKay, daughter of Archibald McKay and Isabella Moore, on 25 May 1847, New Richmond, Gaspe, QC. They had six children.
Helen, born 17 February 1824, North Esk Parish, died 30 March 1847, New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC. She was baptised 20 May 1824 in the Bartibog Catholic Church. She married Cornelius Sexton, son of Jeremiah Sexton and Elizabeth O’Connor, on 31 March 1845 in New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC. They had at least one child.
Mary Ann, born 23 May 1830, New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC, died 1902. She married George Henry Gilker on 7 February 1848 in New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC. He was the son of Samuel Gilker and Ann Purcell. They had eight children.
Cornelius, born 20 February 1835, New Richmond, Bonaventure Co, QC. died after 1880. He was married and raised a family in Wampaca Co, WI.
