FITZGERALD, MICHAEL: born in Ireland and died before June 1829, most likely in North Esk Parish. He married Mary Gillis, daughter of Duffy Gillis, on 18 January 1814 in Northumberland Co. She was born about 1791 in North Esk and died after 1829. The family was Roman Catholic. They were living in Grand Digue, NB when their son James was born, but settled in North Esk shortly after.

Jane, born 30 October 1814, Northumberland Co died between 1839 and 1842. She married William Stewart in 6 July 1834 by Father Egan, missionary priest at Nelson in Northumberland County. He was born about 1790 and died after 1845. They lived at Indian Point Reserve until the 1840’s, and it appears they moved before 1851. They had two children.
James, born 21 October 1818, Grand Digue, NB, died 17 February 1915, Curventon, NB. He married 1st Elizabeth Ann McLean on 19 June 1843, the daughter of Alexander McLean and Elspeth A. Stewart. She was born 1825, Cassilis, NB and died 1878, probably in the Curventon, NB area.
His second marriage was with Elizabeth Tingley, daughter of Samuel Tingley and Flora Stewart, which took place on 24 July 1883 at St. Mary’s RC Church, Newcastle, NB. She was born 6 October 1833, Newcastle, died 24 January 1893, Sevogle, NB. His third marriage was to Edith Clark-Smith after 1893 in Northumberland Co, NB. She was born 6 October 1833 and died after 1915. James and Elizabeth Ann had at least twelve children. James is buried with his 1st wife, Elizabeth McLean and beside his 2nd Elizabeth Tingley in St. Thomas RC Cemetery, Red Bank. James farmed in the Red Bank area.
Margaret, born 1828, North Esk Parish, died after 1881. She married Martin Doyle before 1851. He was born about 1816 and died after 1881. They had eight children. They were living in Nelson in 1881.
Michael, born 1828, North Esk Parish and died after 1891. He lived in Sunny Corner, NB, unmarried.
