He married Mariah Ives Tozer, daughter of Jared Tozer and Sarah Ives, around 1823 in North Esk. She was born 4 August 1808 in Maugerville, Sunbury Co, NB and died 5 June 1889 in Grove Lake, Pope Co, MN, USA.<br /> <br /> The family lived in Whitney for over 30 years, where John occupied various parish offices and was a Deacon of the North Esk Baptist Church. The family moved to Minnesota in 1855.

He was farming in MN, USA from 1855 to 1870, but in 1870 moved to Hopewell, OR, USA.<br /> <br /> Robert Henry, born 11 October 1826, Whitney, died 11 September 1857, Charlottetown PEI, at the age of 30 years after contacting typhoid fever while attending a convention in Charlottetown PEI. He left North Esk to study for the ministry at the Baptist Seminary in Fredericton. After ordination he served the pastorates of Maugerville and First Baptist Church, Moncton. He married Augusta A. Read and had three children. One of his sons, Henry R. Emmerson was Premier of NB from 1897 to 1900 and later served as a minister in the cabinet of Sir Wilfred Laurier.<br /> <br /> Elson W, born 25 April 1830, Whitney, died 28 April 1868, most likely MN, USA. He married Charity A. Judd. He was farming at Cannon City, Rice Co, MN, USA in 1860.<br /> <br /> Sarah Ann, born about 1832, Whitney, died March 1844, No Co.<br /> <br /> John, born 2 June 1834, Whitney, died 19 January 1903 likely MN, USA. He married 1st Mary M. Decker, 2nd Annie M. Johnson. He was farming at Grove Lake, Pope Co, MN, USA in 1870.<br /> <br /> Eunice Ann, born about 1836, Whitney, died about 1917, Norton, NB. She married Robert Mutch on 22 September 1855 in North Esk. He was born about 1831, Whitney and died 1917, Norton, NB, the son of Alexander Mutch and Mary Cromwell. Eunice and Robert had at least nine children. A grandson, Henry E. Allaby became prominent in the Baptist Community of NB.<br /> <br /> James Tozer, born 12 May 1839, Whitney, died 8 June 1912, likely Iowa, USA. He married Caroline S.P. VanEtton. He served a term in the army during the US Civil War. Sometime after 1870 the family moved to Magnolia Twp, Harrison Co, IA, USA. Maria, born 30 August 1841, Whitney died 17 March 1873. She married John S. Judd.<br /> <br /> David W, born 5 October 1843, Whitney, died 17 August 1914, likely Oregon, USA. He married Eliza Richardson. He married Lyman H. Decker.
