1730-1798<br /> DRYSDALE, WILLIAM: born about 1730, believed in Scotland, a cooper by trade moved to England where he was engaged in the British fisheries. He married a Mary, surname unknown and moved to Prince Edward Island, though this reference to Prince Edward Island may refer to his son William who married a woman from PEI. He moved to Nelson on the Miramichi sometime before 1775, as his son William was the first while English baby born in Nelson. He later settled on Lot 23 on the Newcastle side, later moving to Tracadie about 1793. He was buried in a small family cemetery on Lot #29.<br /> <br /> “Legend” has it that his wife “Mary” was the daughter of the Prince of Wales. William was working in a position with the royalty and met up with the Princess while in their employ. The crown could not accept this and because of Mary’s rank, they could not dismiss her but sent Mary and William off to Prince Edward Island (in Britain’s new country).

He married first Margaret Higginson about 1795, and second Marguerite Comeau.<br /> <br /> David, born about 1776 and died 1802 in Tracadie. He married Victoire Brideau in 1797.<br /> <br /> Mary, born about 1778. She married John McCallum about 1796.<br /> <br /> Elizabeth, born about 1780. She married James Robertson.<br /> <br /> Ann, born about 1782. She married first Jean Baptiste Robert dit Lebreton in 1803 and second Francois Brideau in 1831.<br /> <br /> Date of Arrival: unknown, from England.
