Children of Peter Sinclair and Huldah Curtis:
(1) William Born 1840; died c1870 at Whitney. William was a shoemaker. On July 13, 1863 he married Jane Sophia Hubbard, daughter of Joseph Hubbard and Hannah Jellison. William and Jane had four children. After his death she married Alex McAloney.
(2) Robert Born 1841 in Whitney; died between 1877 and 1888 in Orono, Maine. In 1872 he married Malinda A. Nutler in Old Towne, Maine.
Children of Peter Sinclair and Maria Copp:
(3) Thyrza (Thirza) Born May 14, 1848; died October 28, 1905 in Whitney. On October 24, 1877 she married Peter Menzies, son of John Menzies and Mary Ann Forsyth. Peter was born August 5, 1843 and died on July 15, 1886. They had five children. Peter and Thyrza were buried in Whitney (Old) Baptist Cemetery. They were farmers.
(4) Henry Copp Born March 21, 1851; died after 1930. He married (1) Susanna Mary Smith, the daughter of William Smith and Anna Mary Lingle of Covington, Pennsylvania. Susanna died June 4, 1884 and left two children. Henry married (2) Julia Plubell on April 9, 1890. They had five children. Julia was born c1872 in Snow Shoe Centre County, PA and died there on May 23, 1933. Julia was the daughter of Bauler Plubell, Sr.
(5) Jane “Jennie” Born March 27, 1853 in Whitney; died January 12, 1929. Unmarried, she spent most of her life in Boston, but was residing in Whitney at the time of her death. She was interred at St. Philip’s United Church, Whitney.
(6) Alfred Born March 4, 1855 in Whitney; died January 12, 1937 in
Whitney. On September 23, 1886 he married Amy “Emma” Margaret Johnstone, born March 5, 1865 to Thomas Johnstone and Margaret Edgar. Alfred and Emma lived on the home property on the Island and had ten children. She died July 28, 1946 at Whitney. Alfred and Emma were buried in St. Philip’s United Church, Whitney.
(7) Catherine Born March 21, 1857 in Whitney; died March 25, 1939 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. She married Robert Forsyth Russell on August 17, 1883 and raised two children. Robert was born May 7, 1860 to James Russell and Mary Forsyth and died c1941. Robert and Catherine were buried in Tomahawk.
(8) Bernetta “Erena” Ann Born January 22, 1859. On November 22, 1881 she married William Good Baisley/Basely, son of William Baisley/Basely and Nancy A. Mullin. He was born September 16, 1855 and died February 15, 1943. Erena moved to the U.S. c1890. Son Alfred was raised by his father. William was buried in St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Boom Road.
(9) Carcilla B Born March 18, 1862; died October 29, 1902 in Pinos Altos, New Mexico. She married John Lockard Schofield on January 18, 1877 in Blackville. The son of John Schofield and Mary Connors, he was born May 6, 1852 and died in 1927. They had five children. John and Carcilla were buried in New Mexico.
(10) Frank Born in 1868 in Whitney; died there as a young child after 1871.
Note: Sinclair Island is at the mouth of the North West Millstream on the Northwest Miramichi at Whitney.
Note: On April 13, 1884 at St. Thomas R.C. Church, Red Bank, Rosanna Mary Howe was baptized. She was the daughter of Alfred Sinclair and Margaret Jane Howe. To the author’s knowledge, she has never contacted the Sinclair family.
