Brief summary
Paul Lyons was born c1794 in Ireland and died after 1871. He married Margaret Ryan in Ireland who was born c1801. They farmed in The Meadows, Northumberland County. The family was Presbyterian.

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) Alexander Born in Ireland; died after 1858. He married Mary McPhee. (see note below).
(2) Margaret Born c1825 in Ireland; died March 2, 1899. On September 22, 1844 she married Thomas Wedden/Wheden, born c1809, and had at least two children. They were Presbyterian. They lived in North Esk where Thomas farmed.
(3) Ann Born July 1828; died after 1836. She was not in the 1851 census for Northumberland County.
(4) John Born Jan 14, 1831; died after 1907. He married (1) Mary Sullivan and (2) Mary Quinlan. In 1856 John moved to Stillwater, Minnesota. He served with the 11th Minnesota Volunteers in the American Civil War. In 1870 he was the Chief of Police in Stillwater.
(5) Mary Born June 19, 1833; died September 16, 1899. She married Daniel Murphy on July 18, 1865. Born June 19, 1838, he was the son of Martin Murphy and Catherine Barnaby. They raised six children in Exmoor. This family was Roman Catholic. Daniel died December 21, 1922.
(6) Bridget Born September 1835; died young.
(7) Bridget Born August 1838; died c1877. She married Alexander Hare, the son of Alexander Hare, Sr. and Jane Allison on July 18, 1865. Alexander was born on September 6, 1832 and died in June 1918. Bridget and Alexander had seven children and they lived at Exmoor. Bridget was Roman Catholic and Alexander was Presbyterian.
(8) Catherine Born August 21, 1841; died August 26, 1908. She married William McKibbon on January 16, 1861. Born June 10, 1836, he was the son of William McKibbon and Elizabeth Rogers. They had seven children. William was a farmer and a lumberman. He died September 9, 1919 and was buried in St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Red Bank.
Note: W.D. Hamilton points out that no record of Alexander Lyons’ birth or marriage to Mary McPhee has been found, but that a child was born to this couple. Possibly, this was Mary Ann McPhee found living with Thomas and Margaret Wheden in North Esk in 1861. On July 20, 1865 Mary McPhee married Charles Reid. They can be found in the 1871 census. Mary and Charles were buried in St. James & St. John’s United Church Cemetery, Newcastle, but no dates were given for Mary.
