Lieutenant Colonel Robert Jardine, Esq. was born in January/February 1799 in Applegarth, Dumfriesshire, Scotland to David Jardine and Grizel Boyes. He moved to Kingsclear, York County, N.B. where he married Glorannah Reed, the granddaughter of Lieutenant Leonard Reed of the King’s American Regiment, who settled in York County. Robert died, aged 76, on February 10, 1875 in Indiantown, Northumberland County, N.B. and was buried in the St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery, Blackville, N.B.
Date of Arrival: From Applegarth, Dumfriesshire, Scotland to N.B. between 1815 and 1819 and to the Miramichi in 1825.
Area of Residence: Indiantown, Northumberland County.
Occupation: Ensign, Captain, Second Battalion of the Northumberland County Militia; later proprietor and farmer.
Religion: Presbyterian

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) James F. Born March 21, 1820 in Kingsclear, York County; died before 1881. On December 27, 1848 he married (1) Ann Jane Vanderbeck (born c1823) of Nelson; (2) Margaret (Berry) Ripple on November 7, 1861. Margaret died April 14, 1909 at the age of 78 in Upper Derby. They had seven children.
(2) Benjamin Reed Born September 11, 1821 in York County; died May 9, 1853 at the home of his father in Indiantown. Unmarried, he was buried in St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery, Blackville.
(3) David Born April 2, 1823 Douglas, York County; died Bangor, Maine. He was married with one son.
(4) Leonard Born April 2, 1823 Douglas, York County. He married (1) Barbara Sullivan on July 17, 1867 and had two sons; (2) Elizabeth “Betty” Gillespie of Blackville on August 12, 1873 and had three sons and one daughter.
(5) William Nelson Born January 31, 1826 in Nelson, now Derby; died August 6, 1910 in Beverly, Massachusetts. On July 20, 1867 he married Margaret E. O’Donnell (c1850-October 1903) of Fredericton.
(6) Elizabeth Ann Born November 3, 1827 in Nelson, now Derby; died December 29, 1831, aged 4 years. She was buried at Beaubear’s Point, Nelson Parish.
(7) John Foy Born December 21, 1829; died April 21, 1896 in Campbellton, N.B. He married (1) Margaret/Sarah Jardine (born c1837), daughter of James J. Jardine and Amelia Grace McClasty on September 4, 1855 in Blackville. They had three sons and one daughter. John was widowed by 1871. On October 4, 1871 in Blackville he married (2) Sarah Susan MacDonald, born February 4, 1852 in Blissfield. She was a teacher. John and Sarah had ten children, six sons and four daughters. After John’s death, she moved to Beverly, Massachusetts where she died April 2, 1944 and was buried in Central Cemetery.
(8) Mary Born May 24, 1832 in Nelson, now Derby; died January 15, 1918 and was buried in the United Church Cemetery, Blackville. On November 3, 1849 in Blackville she married Alexander Jardine, brother of Margaret Jardine (above). He was born December 25, 1830 and died June 5, 1923 in Renous and was buried in St. Andrew’s Church Cemetery, Blackville. They had four sons and seven daughters.
(9) Sarah Born August 24, 1834; died April 14, 1932. On March 10, 1854 she married (1) William Vanderbeck (1819-1862). They had one son and two daughters. On July 26, 1864 Sarah married (2) John Gerrish, (c1831). They had three sons and two daughters.
(10) Francis Henderson Born 1836; died November 24, 1914, Quarryville. He married Barbara Coughlan on January 21, 1862. She was born April 16, 1842 and died May 12, 1897 in Indiantown. They had eight sons and six daughters. This family was Presbyterian.
(11) Glorannah Reed Born September 5, 1838. On January 24, 1866 she married Stephen Young Mitchell and they had two sons and one daughter. Stephen died September 25, 1890 at his residence in Bangor, Maine.
(12) Robert Hand Born July 1, 1841, Indiantown. On January 21, 1865 in Derby he married Caroline/Carolyn Astle, born c1845 to James Leonard Astle and Annie Davidson. They had five sons and three daughters. Robert died November 4, 1900 and Caroline died May 15, 1908; both were buried in St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery, Blackville.
(13) Jane Born and died August 2, 1844.
