Elmer Alton Glendenning was born in 1875 in Canobie, New Brunswick, the son of Walter Glendenning and Elizabeth Peters. After marriage to Grace, they moved many times to find work and returned to Little Branch, Northumberland County where they set up the post office in their home. In 1919 they settled down in Little Branch, and Elmer engaged in mixed farming. He was active in the Black River Community Hall, the establishment of the Agricultural Society, and he established the Northumberland Creamery. He was a member of the Masonic, Orange, and Oddfellow Lodges.

(3) Venetia Katherine Born May 14, 1915, Little Branch; died January 11, 2003, Miramichi. On August 4, 1937 she married Donald “Cameron” Russell (December 29, 1906-August 1979), son of Ernest H. Russell and Christina Cameron.

(6) John Franklin Born December 14, 1919. He was married January 17, 1944 to Mary Edna Bessie Watling, born March 7, 1923 and died February 13, 2013 in Moncton. John was a storekeeper and he was murdered at his home in Black River on June 21, 1986.
(7) Elinor Jean Born June 10, 1922; died February 22, 1973. She was married February 17, 1940 to Earle Alexander Taylor (1916-1969).
(8) Kenneth Elmer Born July 25, 1924. On May 23, 1946 he married Janet Verne Taylor, daughter of Alfred Taylor and Emma Wood.
(9) Norman Peters Born December 21, 1925; died February 19, 2004. On September 27, 1951 he married Dorothy “Jean” Watling, daughter of Willard Watling and Clara McDonald.
(10) Donald Ernest Malcolm Born September 8, 1929. He married Carol Louise Chesney on January 31, 1958.
