Brief summary
John Gibbons was born in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland April 10, 1810 and came to N.B. with his mother, Catherine, c1819. On November 14, 1831 John, a resident of Blackville, married Eunice Ives Somers (1813-1899), the daughter of John Somers and Abigail Tozer. John was a school teacher at Whitney for several years before moving to Lyttleton where he was a farmer and lumberman. He erected the first Lyttleton schoolhouse, which he opened in 1841. In 1854 the Gibbons family moved to Dane County, Wisconsin, U.S.A. At the time of his death June 20, 1875, he was the postmaster at Sun Prairie, Dane Co., WI. John became Baptist deacon in 1845.<br /> <br /> Date of Arrival: from Ireland in 1819<br /> <br />

They had at least one child.<br /> <br /> (4) Charles Born on March 25, 1838 at Lyttleton; died January 17, 1891 in Butte, Montana. He married Ida _____________.<br /> <br /> (5) Isabella “Belle” Born c1840 in Lyttleton. She married Malcolm Davidson. She died after 1905 in Sun Prairie, WI.<br /> <br /> (6) Henry Born c1841 in Lyttleton; died after 1865 in Minnesota.<br /> <br /> (7) Edmund Adams Born 1843 in Lyttleton; Died in 1913 in Altadena, CA. On April 18, 1869 he married Emma E. Pynecheon and they had one child. <br /> <br /> (8) Robert B. Born November 19, 1845 in Lyttleton; died October 1925 in Wisconsin. He married Ida Brown and had one child.<br /> <br /> (9) Eunice J. “Una” Born October 24, 1847; died May 28, 1947; buried Sun Prairie. On June 26, 1867 she married Isaac N. Flanagan, Jr., born July 4, 1842 in N.B. and died October 30, 1914 in Chicago. He was a veteran of the American Civil War. Isaac’s death certificate identifies his parents as Isaac N. Flanigan (sic) and Mary Drinkwater. <br /> <br /> (10) George A. Born c1849; living in 1905. He married Ellen Harrington.<br /> <br /> <br />
