He married Jane “Jean” Ross, a native of Maryport, Cumberland, England, who was born c1780 and died March 23, 1857. They farmed in Napan. Both were buried in St. John’s Presbyterian and St. Luke’s Methodist Cemetery, Chatham.

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) James Born c1803; baptized January 13, 1805 in Cummer, Dumfriesshire. On March 7, 1835 he married Janet Orr who was born c1815 and died on June/July 14, 1857. James died in 1899. They had eleven children. This Jfamily was Presbyterian.
(2) David (dates unknown) Went to Upper Canada.
(3) Elizabeth Born c1809; died October 5, 1874. She married John J. Jardine on August 15, 1828. John was born on May 15, 1803 and died on April 30, 1878. They lived at Upper Napan and had seven children. They were buried in St. John’s Presbyterian and St. Luke’s Methodist Cemetery.
(4) John Born on October 22, 1810 in Dalton, Dumfriesshire; died November 21, 1888. On December 15, 1837 he married Mary Woods who was born May 10, 1817 and died December 25, 1900. They had ten children. They were Presbyterian.
(5) Robert Born c1812; baptized July 7, 1812 in Dalton; died May 28, 1890. He married Mary Mitchell who was born c1825 and died before 1871. They had eight children. They were Presbyterian.
(6) Joseph Born in c1815; baptized June 17, 1815 in Dalton; died November 13, 1878. He married Mary Anne Brown on August 1, 1848. Mary was born c1829 and died c1905. They had four children.
(7) William Born November 15, 1819 in Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire; died October 5, 1891. On July 31, 1854 he married Elizabeth H. Gilliss who was born January 29, 1825 and died in 1910. They had seven children. (In the 1851 census, they had three children.) They were buried in St. John’s Presbyterian and St. Luke’s Methodist Cemetery.
(8) Jonathan Born c1822; baptized October 26, 1822 in Dalton; died May 6, 1897. He married Mary “May” Johnstone April 3, 1849. She was born December 23, 1829 and died May 24, 1920. They had ten children. They were buried in St. John’s Presbyterian and St. Luke’s Methodist Cemetery. Note: Parish records have no information on David; however, a David was born c1805 to Jacob Dickson and baptized on January 17, 1805 in Dalton.
