Brief summary
Thomas Carroll was born in 1810 in Ireland and died July 5, 1895 in Brainerd, Minnesota where he was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Francis R.C. Church. Thomas probably worked in the shipyards of Chatham, Montreal, and Bytown (Ottawa), finally settling in Chelsea, Quebec (just north of Bytown) by the time of the 1851 census. There, Thomas and some of his sons worked at Gilmore’s Mill (the same Gilmore associated with Alexander Rankin in Douglastown, Northumberland Co.).
