A story handed down in the family says that Catherine aided her mother to escape to a raft in the river at Newcastle during the 1525 Miramichi Fire.

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) John Born September 1834; died December 22, 1921, aged 88; buried in Barnaby River. He was unmarried and was a farmer.
(1) Murdock (Murtha) Born May 10, 1836; died 1910. He was a lumberman, farmer, and a labourer. In 1875 he married Maria Carey, born in Woodstock in July 12, 1850 and died May 7, 1919. Murdock and Maria had six children.
(3) Ann Born April 1838; died after 1879. On November 21, 1871 she married Tim McCarthy, son of Dennis and Norah McCarthy of Nelson. Tim was born c1830 and died July 7, 1909 in Semiwagon Ridge, Northumberland County. They had four children. Tim was a farmer and they were R.C.
(4) Mary Born February 1840; died after 1861. She married Jim Woods.
(5) Dennis Born April 1, 1843 in Barnaby River; died April 13, 1914. In June 1881 he married Julia Mahoney, born 10 November 1856 to Florence Mahoney and Mary Gallagher. Dennis and Julia had thirteen children. Dennis, a farmer, was buried in the cemetery of the Most Pure Heart of Mary R.C., Barnaby River.
(6) Margaret Born May 1845; died before 1851.
(7) Fenton Patrick Born April 12, 1847; died May 30, 1930. A ship labourer, he married (1) Mary Regan on January 28, 1872. They had nine children. Mary, the daughter of Dennis Regan and Honorah O’Keef, died in Chatham on February 23, 1897 at the age of 45. Fenton married (2) Winnifred Murphy on November 21, 1898. She was a widow and the daughter of Thomas Murphy and Elizabeth Murphy.
(8) Matthew Born April 12, 1849 Nelson; died February 20, 1925. He was a lumberman. On June 19, 1881 he married (1) Mary Ivory, born c1857. They had one child before Mary died January 20, 1883 at the age of 25. On February 12, 1884 he married (2) Susan A. English, born April 18, 1845 and daughter of James English. Susan died June 21, 1923. Matthew and both wives were buried at Malcolm Cemetery, St. Patrick’s R.C., Nelson.
(9) Julia Born in November 1852 Nelson; died after 1871.
