Brief summary
William Brown was born in England, married before emigration to the province of Nova Scotia, and eldest child born in Poole, Dorsetshire, England, and the remainder of the children in the colony. Name of wife is not known at this time. He was stated to have been a rope maker.
Date of Arrival: from England c1765 to the colony of Nova Scotia and to the Miramichi in 1777 where William Brown settled by Capt. Boyle below the Davidson grant on the south side of the Miramichi River in what is now Nelson-Miramichi.

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) Elizabeth Born in Poole, England. On August 6, 1787 she was married by James Horton, one of the Justices for the county, to (1) John Stuart (Stewart), a widower with six children from the parish of North Esk. John died in 1805, and his tombstone is one of a few surviving in the cemetery at Wilson’s Point. They had at least five children. Elizabeth remarried to (2) Neil McLean, also of North Esk. She was still alive in 1813 when her father left land to her in his will, but was deceased before 1821.
(2) Robert Born c1765-66. He married Grace _________. They had at least eight children, many of the sons becoming river pilots.
(3) Charlotte On 25 October 1787 she was married to James (Wells) Walls*, a Scottish emigrant from the Orkney Islands. The son of John Walls and Isobel Stronch, he was born March 10, 1765 and died January 9, 1852. James and Charlotte had nine children and are the probable progenitors of all the Walls families in Northumberland County.
(4) William He married Deborah ________and there were descendants, although not specifically identified as of this date.
(5) Anne She married one of the Alexander McDonald’s, probably the Alex of the Queen’s Rangers, who was granted a lot in the same are, but who later moved elsewhere.
(6) John He married Judith Collins, a daughter of Patrick Collins. He died between May 20, 1812 and July 1, 1813, when his will was proved, leaving one son, William who died in his minority, and at least two daughters. His wife remarried to John Percival November 5, 1815.
