Brief summary
Philip Bremner was born c1780 and baptized on January 3, 1781 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Lunenburg, NS. He died April 11, 1859 in Chatham. He was the son of Robert Bremner and his second wife, a widow, Sophia MacDonald (Treuter). In approximately 1792, following the death of his father, Philip travelled to the Miramichi to live with his half sister, Helen Bremner, who was married to Alexander Gilliss.
Date of Arrival: c1792 in Northumberland County
Area of Residence: Rocks Head (opposite Middle Island) near Chatham. He also acquired land in Glenelg Parish (Napan) which his family farmed.

Discription of the issues related to this individual
(1) Robert Born c1810; died November 27, 1881 in Napan. He married Elizabeth Loggie on November 12, 1835 in Chatham. Born c1815, to William Loggie and Margaret Morrison, she died after 1891. They had eight children.
(2 Sophia Born September 21, 1812; died November 30, 1893 in Chatham. She married Allan MacDonald on July 6, 1838 in Bartibog. He was born January 16, 1808 and died September 21, 1852 in Bartibog. He was the son of Alexander MacDonald and Grace McLean of Bartibog. Both were buried at St. Peter & St. Paul’s Cemetery, Bartibog. They had seven children.
(3) Janet Born c1814; died March 15, 1882 in Helensville, New Zealand. She married Isaac McLeod on February 6, 1834 in Chatham. He was born Kennacoill, Sutherland, Scotland on February 2, 1806 and died September 13, 1879 in Helensville, New Zealand. He was the son of William McLeod and Janet McDonald of Pictou, N.S. Both were buried in Helensville, New Zealand. They had a family of nine children.
(4) Helen Born June 12, 1816; died July 25, 1884 in Chatham. She married John Whitehead on August 3, 1843. He was born c1799 in Scotland and died December 5, 1882 in Chatham. They had seven children.
(5) John Born c1819; died April 16, 1885 in Chatham. He married Ellen Fenton on October 25, 1850 in Chatham. She was born c1829 in Scotland and died December 8, 1906 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Alexander Fenton and Annie Gruar/Grewer. John was buried in St. John’s and St. Luke’s Cemetery, Chatham, and Helen was buried in the Boston area. They had nine children.
(6) Catherine Born October 4, 1820; died August 5, 1910 Chatham. She married Asa Perley on June 13, 1843 Chatham. He was born August 24, 1814 in Chatham to Dudley Perley* and Anne Gilliss and died February 2, 1894 Chatham. Both were buried at St. John’s and St. Luke’s Cemetery, Chatham. They had a family of nine or ten.
(7) Phillip Born May 29, 1823; died August 21, 1826, aged 5, Chatham. He was buried in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Chatham.
(8) Alexander Born c1826; died August 25, 1827 Chatham. He was buried in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Chatham.
(9) Ann Born February 7, 1829; died December 12, 1829 in Chatham. She was buried in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Chatham.
(10) James Born March 2, 1835; died in 1911 in Chatham. He married May Stuart on July 17, 1861 in Chatham. She was born c1840 and died September 26, 1868 in Chatham. She was the daughter of Charles Stuart and Helen Loggie. They were both buried in St. John’s and St. Luke’s Cemetery, Chatham; however, their grave marker is located in Riverside Cemetery, Chatham. They had five children.
