James C. Adams was born on June 4, 1840 on P.E.I. He died July 15, 1915 in Little Branch, N. B. He was the son of Jonathan Adams and Agnes Johnson and great- grandson of John Adams (1734-1815) and Sarah Harrison who came from Derbyshire, England to New London, P.E.I. in 1774 as part of a group of settlers brought out by Robert Clark.
Arrival in Northumberland County: from P.E.I. in 1883 with wife Ellen.
Area of Residence: James and Ellen settled at Little Branch.
Occupation: According to the census he was a farmer and miller.
Religion: Presbyterian
Married: Ellen Ferris
Born: June 1, 1841 P.E.I. to Scottish parents; died: December 30, 1909.

(1) Jane Born 1860 on P.E.I. She married (1) William MacDonald; (2) Calvin Towle. No evidence was found that they ever resided on the Miramichi.
(2) Mary Elizabeth Born 1863 on P.E.I.
(3) Mary Elizabeth Born December 25, 1867 on P.E.I. On July 21, 1888 in Newcastle she married David McGinnis, born January 6, 1860 on P.E.I. They raised four children in Glenelg Parish. The family was Methodist.
(4) Barbara Born 1868 on P.E.I.; died in infancy
(5) George E. Born April 27, 1870 on P.E.I.; died April 11, 1953 in Northumberland County. George married (1) Jessie Finno on May 31, 1893, who was born in February 2, 1872 and died ________1908. They had five children. On December 25, 1912 George married (2) Ida May McClenaghan (McLenaghan), born July 23, 1886 and died in 1967. They had ten children. George and both wives were buried at St. Stephen’s Community Cemetery, Black River Bridge, N.B.
(6) Robert Thomas Born July 25, 1874 on P.E.I.; died September 28, 1902 at Little Branch, leaving a widow and three children. He married Christina C. Watling, the daughter of Alexander and Catherine Watling, on August 14, 1895. She was born February 3, 1876 in N.B. and died September 21, 1956. Christina later married John K. McKenzie.
(7) Jonathan Alexander Born March 22, 1876 and died December 21, 1926.
Note: Tombstone at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Black River Bridge had DOB as 1874.
Jonathan married Emeline Jane Ullock, daughter of Thomas Ullock and Margaret (Mary Ann, PANB, RS141A2/2) MacDonald on Nov 30, 1914. She was born in Chatham Apr. 11, 1895 and died October 2, 1978.
(8) William Lawson Born August 24, 1878 on P.E.I. On September 13, 1899
he married Mary Jane McLean. Mary was born on December 18, 1876. They had two sons, both born in Canada. In 1904 they immigrated to Westbrook, Cumberland Co., Maine where William worked in a paper mill. They were still in Maine in 1940. The family was Presbyterian.
(9) Phoebe Born 1879 on P.E.I.; died young.
(10) James Alfred Born May 15, 1881 on P.E.I.; died on August 14, 1955 in Black River; buried in Old Towne, Maine. On November 9, 1904 he married Sarah Ellen Ahearn who died between 1940 and 1955.
