1815-1903
STEPHENSON, THOMAS: born 1815 to Thomas & Elizabeth Traill (Fea) Stephenson of Stremness, Orkneys, Scotland. He died in 1903. Thomas became a shipwright and was taught this trade by Joseph Russell. On 2 January 1840 he married Mary Ann MacDonald, daughter of Stewart and Margaret MacDonald. She was born 1823 and had come to the Miramichi with her parents in 1833 from Ireland. She died 2 December 1850. He married a second time to Annie Gibbs MacDonald, widow of James MacDonald, on 1 April 1858, by Rev. William Stewart. Annie died in 1880.

Thomas and Mary Ann - Their Issue:
Margaret, born 1840, died 1898. She married Charles Matheson on 28 December 1865. In the 1881 Newcastle Census, we find Charles Matheson, age 51, occupation tailor, his wife Margaret, age 41, and seven children. Charles is buried in St. James United Cemetery, Newcastle, headstone 1830 – 1905, along beside his wife Margaret Stephenson, headstone 1840 – 1898.
Isabella Jane, born 1848, died u/k. She married Charles Donald McEachern.
Thomas and Annie - Their Issue:
Annie, born u/k, died 24 September 1854 in Chatham, NB, of a
fever.
William Traill, born 1860 and died 24 March 1950 in Northumberland County. He married Eliza Eleanor Morris on 27 March 1881. She was born in 1862 and died 28 January 1938. They are buried in Riverside Cemetery, Chatham. William and Eleanor had seven children.
James Fea, born 1864, died u/k. He married Sarah Cameron. There were no children.
