RUSSELL, JOHN: born about 1797 in Clydebank, Scotland and died 9 May 1884 in Whitney, NB, Can. He married Margaret Hutchison before 1820 in Scotland. She was born about 1796 in Speymouth, Morayshire, Scotland and died 1879 in Whitney, NB. They had four children when they settled on a farm in Whitney. The family was Presbyterian.

Mary (Margaret) was born 22 August 1821 near Glasgow, Scotland and died 5 June 1907, Whitney area. She married James Batey Forsyth on 14 January 1840, No Co, NB. He was born about 1809, Whitney, died 29 March 1891, Whitney, NB. The family lived and raised their eight children in Whitney.
John, born 1825, Scotland, died about 1860, Whitney. He married Sarah Whitney on 10 June 1852, No Co. She was born 21 April 1829, Whitney, NB and died 1906 in Whitney, NB. They had at least four children before John died.
Magdalene, born 25 May 1827, Scotland, died 19 April 1915, Whitney, NB. She married David Whitney on 17 July 1851 in No Co. He was born 1 April 1826, Whitney and died 2 May 1915, Whitney. They lived in Whitney, where David was a farmer, and raised their nine children there. Magdalene and David are buried in St. Philip’s United Cemetery, Whitney, NB.
James, born 1929, Scotland, died after 1878. He married Mary Forsyth on 29 July 1858, No Co. She was born about 1841, South Esc Parish, died about 1865. James was the 1st postmaster at Whitney, holding the position between 1872 and 1878. They had three children.
Isabella, born 7 June 1830 according to 1901 NB Census, (born c 1826, age 55 in the 1881 NB Census), born Scotland, immigrated 1848, and died 30 March 1902, North Esk. She married Anthony Cain on 15 October 1846, No Co. He was born about 1818, Ireland and died 21 February 1897, North Esk. They had eight children. Isabella and Anthony are buried in Wesley United (Methodist) Cemetery, Trout Brook, NB.
Janet, born 1831, location unsure at moment, died between 1856 and 1861. She married John Forsyth on 26 July 1855 in No Co. He was born 4 April 1832, South Esk, died 27 April 1896, Whitney area. They had one child.
Peter, born 21 May 1834, Whitney, died 23 May 1915, Whitney. He married 1st Margaret Dunnett on 7 May 1857, No Co. She was born 14 July 1833, North Esk, died 1863, Whitney area; 2nd Johanna Johnston, widow of John Mullin, after 1885, No Co. She was born 24 April 1839, Little South West Indian Reserve, No Co, died 27 January 1913. Peter and Margaret had three children.
Ann, born 1836, died 20 March 1860, No Co. She married William Leach on 29 October 1857, No Co. He was born February 1831, died 5 October 1871 in an accident in Goodfellow’s Quarry, South Esk.
