QUAYLE, WILLIAM: a retired British soldier, legally discharged from Her Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Militia in Ireland, having served during the Irish Rebellion of 1798, was born about 1771 in Ireland and died after 1851, most likely in Williamstown, NB.
He married Christina Barlow in Ireland. She died before 1851 most likely in Williamstown, NB. William and Christina and their six children arrived in New Brunswick aboard the lumber ship “Maria of Harrington”.
William petitioned for land at Williamstown near the allotments granted Robert Tweedie. In 1851 he was a widower, living with his son Robert and working as a shoemaker.

Elizabeth, born County Leitrem, Ireland, died after 1847. She married Nathaniel Buck on 11 August 1831 in No Co. She was born about 1807 (prob) Foxcroft, ME, USA and died 30 January 1894. They had at least six children.
Mary, born County Leitrem, Ireland, died after 1888, Hamilton, ON. She married William Johnston on 7 September 1833 in No Co. They had five children.
Fanny, born about 1810, County Leitrim, Ireland, died 20 June 1899 (prob) Trout Brook, NB. She married William Shaddick on 27 March 1845 in No Co. He was born 2 August 1810, Devonshire, England and died 1 June 1890, Trout Brook, NB. Fanny and William are buried in Wesley United Methodist Cemetery, Trout Brook, NB. William was a farmer. They had four children.
Sarah, born about 1812, Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim, Ireland, died 24 March 1877 at Scott’s Settlement, South Esk Parish, NB. She married George Scott on 24 November 1831 in No Co. He was born about 1800, Duffes, Morayshire, Scotland, died 22 September 1877, Scott’s Settlement, South Esk Parish, NB. George was a successful farmer in South Esk. Sarah and George are buried at in St. James & St. John’s Cemetery, Newcastle, NB. They had eight children.
Robert, born about 1818, County Leitrem, Ireland, died 1900. He married Elizabeth Thompson Keys on 10 February 1859 in No Co. She was born about 1833, believed Ireland and died after 1881. There is a headstone for Robert in Derby United Cemetery, Millerton, NB. They had four children.
No record found of the sixth child as noted when they arrived in NB.
