PAYNE, SAMUEL: was born about 1800 in Ireland and died after 1871 at Red Bank, NB. He married Sarah Ealey on 25 October 1827 in Newcastle. She was born about 1801 in Ireland and died possibly at Red Bank, NB.
By 1847 Samuel and Sarah were living on Lot 25 South, the property being given to him by the Indians in 1838. These acres were part of the site of “Indian Gardens” which had been under cultivation before William Davidson’s arrival in the 1770’s. Samuel held minor Parish offices over the years.

William, born about 1828, Red Bank area and died after 1880. He married Mary McLean, the daughter of William McLean and Mary Allison on 25 September 1862 in Red Bank, NB. She was born 25 April 1836 in Boom Road, NB and died between 1881-1891. The family lived on the Little South West Indian Reserve lands. They had eight children.
Mary Jane, born about 1831, Red Bank, died between 1881 and 1891. She had a son William Alexander with John Nolan/Nowlan born 1 April 1850. It is believed she married James Smith Boynton after he moved from Ashland, ME, USA in the early 1860’s to a spot 5 miles west of Red Bank that is still known as “Boynton Field”. He was born about 1823 and died after 1891. Mary and James had no children but did raise Margaret Jane “Maggie” Clancy.
James, born about 1831, Red Bank, died 24 November 1903 in Greenville, ME. He married Rachel McKendrick, the daughter of Malcolm McKendrick and Ann Estey on 21 October 1858 in Red Bank, NB. She was born about 1834, The Gardens at Red Bank, and died 9 June 1918. They had at least nine children.
John, born 1 April 1833, Red Bank, died 4 October 1914, Sillikers, NB. He married 1st Sarah J Unknown, and 2nd Mary Ellen Parks-Allison, the daughter of Mary Allison on 24 May 1870 in Northumberland Co. She was born 1 April 1852, Boom Road, NB and died 26 February 1930 at Sillikers, NB. John and Mary are buried in St. Stephen’s (old) Cemetery, Red Bank. John was a farmer at Sillikers, where he and Mary Ellen raised eight children.
Robert, born 1 April 1833, Red Bank, died 18 February 1885 Chelmsford. He married Ann Davidson Leslie, the daughter of John Leslie and Margaret Davidson on 16 September 1867 in No Co. She was born 18 November 1842 and died 15 January 1930. They lived at Chelmsford, NB. Robert and Ann are buried in Ferguson Presbyterian Cemetery, Millerton, NB. They had at least eight children.
Samuel, born 6 July 1835, Red Bank, died 28 March 1910, Red Bank. He never married.
Elizabeth, born 6 August 1837, Red Bank, died 20 January 1928 Sillikers. There is a small wooden cross marking her grave in St. Stephen’s (old) Cemetery, Red Bank, NB
