Baptist ministry in Lower Derby began in the late 1800’s when Rev. T.M. Munroe of Newcastle began holding services in local homes and in the school. The construction of the Lower Derby Baptist Church began in 1879 and was completed in 1884.This church was an out-station of the Newcastle Baptist Church until 1959. In 1961 the original building was sold and demolished; a new building was completed by 1963. <br /> <br />
