The Scots at the Points a book by Pat Hubbard which is in our collection at the Chatham Library Acadian French were at the Point in the last half of the 18th Century. Many of these French died at the Point and were buried in a mass grave there.Wm. Davidson and his settlers (the first English-speaking settlers on the Miramichi) came in the 1760’s. In the 1790’s a Presbyterian church was built and remained a place of worship until 1832.The cemetery of this church is the burial spot of many of the original English-speaking inhabitants of this area,<br /> <br /> A replica of the original church was built recently by the Miramichi Highland Society and serves as an interpretative center for Scottish history.<br /> <br />
