Church history

Paragraph that details some of the information about this church.
Anglican clergy men visited the Miramichi before 1820. The Mission of Miramichi was established in 1820, but it wasn’t until 1826 that St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Bushville, between Chatham and Newcastle, was consecrated.
In 1827 a branch of St. Paul’s Sunday School was begun at Chatham, but Chatham’s Anglican’s continued to attend St. Paul’s until St. Mary’s Chapel was opened in 1837 on Wellington Street and consecrated in 1843. St. Mary’s was enlarged in 1879 and renovated in 1894-1895.
On January 12, 1964 St. Mary’s was destroyed by fire. A new building was begun in 1970, dedicated on April 19, 1971, and consecrated in 1981.
