Church history

Paragraph that details some of the information about this church.
In January 1989 several families left St. Andrew’s United Church in Chatham because of their disagreement with the United Church’s General Council decisions on abortion and ordination of homosexuals. Two people who left the church at that time offered their home as a meeting place. The congregation grew and in June 1989 the church moved to the Pioneer Senior Citizen’s Hall at the corner of Water and Ellis St.
The first minister of this church was Rev. Leslie McCurdy, a former minister at St. Andrew’s United Church for six years In December 1996 the Congregationalists moved into a church at the former C.F.B. Chatham. The Congregational Church had existed in Canada long before church union (The formation of the United Church of Canada) in 1925. Most Congregationalists, Presbyterians and Methodists had joined in 1925 but about six Congregationalist Churches had not. This group grew in number, for the first time, in 1988 when many, similar to the Chatham Group, left the United Church and joined the Congregationalists
