The Gray United Pentecostal Church began in 1941 when a small group of people began meeting in tents and homes. Later they purchased a small church building (formerly a Baptist Church) and established their church under the founding pastor, Rev. Clem Hyde.Shortly thereafter Rev. C.D. Dudley became the pastor and remained as such for the next 21 years(plus 2 more years later on). During his pastorate Pentecostal churches were established also in Upper Blackville and Chatham. Forty years later (1981) a new church was built and dedicated on May 30 of that year.<br /> <br /> The old church purchased in the 1940’s became the Youth Center for some time and later was torn down
