Church history
*
Paragraph that details some of the information about this church.
In 1865, 18 members of the Baptist Church in Blackville organized the Ludlow Baptist Church. Meetings at first were held in the Pond School House. The church building was erected on land donated by Stephen Hovey and dedicated in 1889.
Over the years, the church was upgraded—a new basement, an addition to the building to house a kitchen, bathroom and a meeting room.
Church membership, which began with the original 18, rose to 67 in 1983, but declined to the present membership of approximately a dozen people in 2002. In spite of the low membership, according to member Frances McKay, the church is “very active and a very prominent ‘light’ in the community still.”
In 2012, plans were afoot to bring in a new pastor and to begin services again.
