Paragraph that details some of the information about this church.
The United Church in Boiestown was Boiestown’s first church building and probably the oldest church building in the vicinity. The land for this church was purchased on May 14, 1868, from Richard Hutchison; the church when first built was a Methodist church. Before the church was built, Methodist services were held in homes and in the school.
Before 1875 this church was part of Taymouth Charge. After 1875 Boiestown had its first resident pastor, Rev. A.R.B. Shrewsbury.
In 1903 this Methodist congregation agreed to the use of their building by the Baptists and the Presbyterians. The Baptists continued to use this church until 1912 when they built their own church. The Presbyterians remained.
(That was not the only time this congregation allowed other Christians communities to use their building. In 2002 when St. Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church burned, members of this church were given the use of the United Church for their church services until their new church was constructed.)
In 1925 when the United Church of Canada was formed, Boiestown Methodists voted to become a United Church.
In 2008 Boiestown is a four-point pastoral charge consisting of Boiestown, Bloomfield, Holtville and Astle.
In 2009 land was purchased on Highway, just outside Boiestown, with the view of building a new church in the future.
