McNamee Pentecostal Church was established in the 1930’s under the leadership of Rev. Clement Hyde, who was a missionary to the areas of Holtville, Doaktown, Bettsburg, Priceville, Quarryville, Gray Rapids, establishing churches in most of these.<br /> <br /> In McNamee, after Rev. Hyde’s arrival, meetings were held in homes. Money was raised to build a church on land donated by Walter Lyons. The first church was a log one owned by Rev. C. B. Dudley; it could hold about 100 people. The second church was built on the Lyons’ property.<br /> <br /> As the church population continued to grow, a decision was made to build a larger church. Thus, in 1954 the present church was built on a lot donated by Murray and Clara Wilson, and enlarged in the 1980’s.
