In Russellville prior to church union in 1925, there was no church of any denomination.People in Russellville at that time were Presbyterian or Methodist and they attended the Presbyterian (Bartibog) or Methodist churches in the surrounding regions. When the United church was formed, some of these Presbyterians and Methodists joined the new church and a decision was made to build a United Church in Russellville.<br /> <br /> Land for the church was donated by Alexander Russell and a small independent church was created. (Later it became a mission of Bethel United in Millbank.)<br /> <br /> This church, as stated above, was small seating about 30. It was heated by a wood stove and did not have electricity.<br /> <br /> Over the years the number of congregants dwindled and eventually the church was sold in the late 1950's. The new owners converted the church into a private dwelling. Shortly thereafter the building burned under suspicious circumstances.
