Church history
*
Paragraph that details some of the information about this church.
Pentecostal meetings were held (1945 – 1948) in the Mitchell Building, Water St., Newcastle, previous to the building of the Glad Tidings Tabernacle in 1948. This church, actually an outreach ministry of the Lyttleton Pentecostal Church, was built by Rev. A. R. Langille and opened for worship on Nov. 11, 1948. Eventually the church became too small for the congregation and a new and bigger church was built in Nordin in 1978 on the site of the former French Fort Restaurant.
The building was used as a church again when the Grace Christian Fellowship occupied it for a short time prior to building their church on Beaverbrook Road, Newcastle.
Today the original building still stands at 425 King George Highway but is now a commercial building.
